Country, Roots, and Rock Driven by Celtic Family Harmonies!
Six Time winner at the 2008 BC Country Music Association Awards including Album and Group of the Year

“If there’s one musical group in these parts that has the sun very much rising over them
it has to be The Higgins.”
– John P. McLaughlin from The Province

The Higgins are John, Eileen and Kathleen Higgins - two sisters and a brother, from Delta, BC, Canada. Their combination of country roots, rock influences and a Celtic family background result in a unique and unmistakable sound. The Higgins' songs are straight from the heart - their harmonies full of soul.

Their music is contemporary country seasoned with styles ranging from roots and classic rock, to Celtic. Their sound is melodic and edgy, echoing the rich musical era of the 60’s and 70’s. The Higgins' influences are powerful and diverse - ranging from Crosby, Stills and Nash, Fleetwood Mac, Emmylou Harris and The Doobie Brothers, to Stevie Ray Vaughan, and traditional Irish music.

The Higgins are part of a large Irish family of seven children. They began singing at a very young age in their school choir and musical plays. Their first gig was when Kathleen was only 7 years old. An old Irish friend of their Dad’s asked them to sing at a small St. Patrick’s Day party. They took an Irish folk song, figured out some three-part harmony and held everyone spellbound for the three minutes of that song.

The group’s family dynamic, thrilling vocal talent and contagious love for music combine to deliver heartfelt and uplifting performances. Their live performances have dazzled at events all across Western Canada and in the US.   In addition to performing two years in a row at the Merritt Mountain Music Festival, they’ve played events as diverse as the Vancouver Dragon Boat Fesitval, Cloverdale Rodeo and the Gospel  Showcase at the CCMAS. The Higgins growing popularity is proving their appeal to fans of all music genres. The Higgins received B.C. Country Music Awards nominations two years running (’06 & ‘07), were named one of the fan favourites at British Columbia's famed Merritt Mountain Music Festival and were given their own star on the Merritt Walk of Stars. Recent highlights include a CMA showcase and appearances at Merritt Mountainfest, Dauphin Countryfest, and the Oregon Jamboree.  The group recently performed in China as part of a tourism and cultural exchange.

The group's unique sound and presentation continue to cross and break down musical boundaries. All audiences have embraced their down to earth, friendly personalities, and are taken by their passion for making music they believe in. You don't have to wait any longer - listen to the music and hear for yourself.

The Higgins are:

Kathleen Higgins – Vocals, Acoustic Guitar
The youngest member in the group, Kathleen is the most laid back and free spirited. Her light heartedness and naivete keep the group laughing. Although the youngest, she has a powerful and sophisticated vocal ability.

Eileen Higgins – Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Tin Whistle
The second youngest, and a natural manager, Eileen’s optimistic approach motivates the rest of the group. Her strong voice and presence on stage is captivating and passionate.

John Higgins - Guitar, Vocals, Bass, Mandolin
The oldest in the family, John seems able to play every instrument he picks up. His passion for music, his song writing ability, and confidence benefit every member of the band. He especially enjoys creating harmonies and arranging music in new and original ways.
