Jun 10 & Aug 19 - Turner Music & Events "All Things Spoken" Presents:
Stripped - with host Toby Hargrave

No props, no wardrobe, no problem. A night of music and comedy unplugged… in a plugged in kinda fashion.

Welcome to the Jazz Cellar where for the first time comedy and music shall meet for a night! Local comedian Toby Hargrave has put together his favourite musicians (and all around funny folk) for an evening of libations, and liberal doses of levity.

“These people are special to me, and after tonight you’ll see why”
- Toby Hargrave

Tonight there’s no tricks, no sound effects, no tickle trunks. Just some amplification and genuine entertainment.
Music, wine and song… Thanks for coming down!

Toby Hargrave - Host
The New Millennium not only saw out the age of the Mullet hairstyle, but also welcomed Toby Hargrave into the world of Stand up Comedy. Since, he has gone onto perform at such notable festivals as the Seattle Comedy Competition, The Halifax Comedy Festival and Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal. He was voted the Funniest comedian in Vancouver at the 2005 Vancouver Comedy Festival, and has appeared at every Vancouver Comedy Festival since.
Wes Borg - Headline act
Named one of Victoria's Top 3 Comedy Performers two years in a row, Wes Borg has been performing comedy for 25 years, most notoriously with Alberta's legendary "Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie." Recently relocated to the West Coast from Edmonton, Wes hosts a monthly live comedy show in Victoria and also performs stand up and amusing songs with Victoria's "Atomic Vaudeville/"  His comedy "hits" include the songs, "The War of 1812," "Toronto Sucks," and the viral YouTube video, "Welcome to the Internet Helpdesk," which has enjoyed over 10 million hits worldwide.
Cory Woodard – Featured act

“The Edmonton-born singer-songwriter has the uncanny ability to spark a connection between himself and some of the greatest musicians of all time,” boasts Exclaim! magazine about Cory Woodward. And since his arrival on the Vancouver music scene four years ago, he has done nothing but prove this statement to be true. Like John Lennon or Jeff Tweedy before him, he can paint a bitter picture of life, but always leaves audiences with a message of hope.
Riel Hahn – Special Guest

Riel Hahn is a regular stand up comic in Vancouver and has also performed in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Victoria and Bellingham.  She was a featured performer on the ROCKCOMEDY show at 2008’s CanWest Global Comedy Festival and at FUSE at the Vancouver Art Gallery in February, 2009.

Turner Music and Events works closely throughout the year with Vancouver's finest and most intimate live music venue, the Cellar Restaurant and Jazz Club, and with Vancouver's Cellar Live record Label. The Cellar Live Label was founded in 2001 by musician/producer/jazz club owner Cory Weeds. When Weeds purchased The Cellar Restaurant and Jazz Club. in August, 2000 he immediately started assembling some recording gear to preserve the incredible music that was being performed on stage every night.

Their catalogue now boasts over 45 records. 2007 was a banner year for the label. Cellar Live won "Label of the Year" for the national Jazz Awards. Jodi Proznick's "Foundations" won "Album of the Year" and "Acoustic Group of the Year". "Foundations" was also nominated for a JUNO award.

All of Cellar Live's releases have received fabulous reviews and the label has established itself as one of the country's finest producers of jazz music.

Check out the Cellar and Cellar Live's websites!
